Who we are
Altus Move ("we", "us") is a customer-relationship and operations platform for UK removals businesses, operated as a UK sole-trader business based in Edinburgh — the data controller for the processing described below. You can reach us about anything in this policy, including for full legal and contact details, at hello@altusmove.com.
We handle personal data in two ways: as the controller of the data of the operators who sign up and use Altus Move (and visitors who contact us); and as a processor of the data an operator stores about their own customers — there, the operator is the controller and we only act on their instructions. If you are a customer of a removals firm that uses Altus Move, please contact that firm about your data.
What we collect
- •Account & staff data: names, emails, phone numbers, company name, roles, and a securely hashed password.
- •Enquiries: anything you send us via the website or a demo request.
- •Customer data you store in the app: your customers' names, addresses, contact details, move details, job notes, property photos, and invoice/payment records.
- •Technical data: the cookies and browser storage needed to keep you signed in and run the app.
Why we use it
To provide and run the platform and your account (our contract with you); to answer enquiries (our legitimate interest); to keep the service secure; and to meet legal, tax, and accounting duties. We don't sell your data or use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
We use a few trusted providers to run the platform, each only to provide their service to us:
- •Supabase — database, login, and file storage
- •Vercel — hosting
- •Stripe — card payments (Stripe handles card details)
- •Resend — sending emails
- •Anthropic — turning survey dictation into notes, where you use that feature
- •Google, OpenRouteService & ideal-postcodes — distance estimates and UK address lookup
- •Sentry — error monitoring to help us detect and fix faults (configured to strip personal data before any report is sent)
- •Most of these providers are in the US (covered by the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses); a few are in the UK or EEA (covered by UK adequacy). Email us for a copy of the relevant safeguard.
How long we keep it
We keep account data for as long as your account is active and a reasonable period afterwards. Data you store about your customers stays until you delete it or close your account — you control it through the app. Routine activity history is automatically removed after two years.
To close your account: email hello@altusmove.com from your account email. We'll confirm, export your business data for you on request, and then delete your organisation's data within 30 days — except records we must keep for legal, tax, or accounting reasons (such as invoices), which are retained only as long as the law requires.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you, or object to how we use it — just email hello@altusmove.com. If you're a customer of a firm that uses Altus Move, contact that firm. You can also complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk), though we'd like the chance to help first.
Cookies
We only use the cookies and browser storage that are needed to run the app and keep you signed in. No third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date above.
